oh dear, there seems to be no end to this roller coaster ride. after thrashing levski sofia 4-2, we were forced to a 1-1 draw with Marseille and worse of all Marseille got the away goal. we looked poor and totally no drive to win the game. finnan was poor yet again; murphy was virtually non existence; owen looked more interested in leaving than scoring. and gh's tactics went haywired again. just out of curiousity, why did he: 1. 'cold-storaged' diouf when we need someone to run the flanks. and no surprise, he played heskey as right-wing. 2. loan babbel to rovers and ostemobor to bolton when finnan is not having a good run? 3. fielded murphy instead of cheyrou against a french opponent? i hope gh let diouf play in the nx match. although his passing is shit, at least he terrorise opponent's defence. and gh shd really work harder to improve the team's morale and encourage the players on the field. those who wear the liverbird on their chests shd give their 110% effort! ynwa, webmaster -------------------------------------------- Match Report: Liverpool 1 Marseille 1 Liverpool were held to a frustrating 1-1 draw by Marseille in their Uefa Cup fourth-round, first-leg tie at Anfield . Gerard Houllier's side were leading through a second-half Milan Baros goal but had never looked truly in control. And with 12 minutes remaining, Didier Drogba scored to give Marseille a precious advantage going into the return leg at a sold-out Stade Velodrome in a fortnight's time. It took 25 minutes for Liverpool to create a chance when Danny Murphy and Harry Kewell set up Michael Owen who, from 12 yards, mis-hit his shot straight at Fabien Barthez. Seconds from the break Jamie Carragher got down the left and hit a first-time cross that Owen met with his head 15 yards out, but he could not find enough power to trouble Barthez. Dietmar Hamann rose from six yards to power a 54th-minute header on to the roof of the net from Steven Gerrard's free-kick, and a minute later Liverpool grabbed the lead. Owen's run and pass sent Gerrard in, and he bravely hurled himself into a challenge with Barthez which left the pair on the ground. The ball broke for Baros to fire into an empty net and Gerrard needed treatment before he could continue. Liverpool threatened again when Sami Hyypia's ball sent Baros away on the left and he cut the ball back for Owen, who set up Hamann to drill wide from 25 yards. But after 78 minutes the home side failed three times to properly clear their box. The ball ballooned around and Camel Meriem put the ball back into the six-yard box for Drogba, who held off Steve Finnan and stabbed it past Chris Kirkland for the equaliser. In injury time Hyypia rose to meet a Gerrard free-kick and saw his header bounce inches wide, and then Barthez made another fine block from Baros. But the late bombardment was not enough to secure a lead for Liverpool to take to France. source: Ananova

Owen ready to start talks over Liverpool future Michael Owen is set to start talking about his Liverpool future next week when he meets with his agent to start negotiations with the club. Owen's future will become clearer when he meets Tony Stephens to consider the options ahead of negotiations with the Anfield hierarchy. A meeting between Stephens and Liverpool chief executive Rick Parry is also imminent, but discussions between the player his family and his agency will have a big bearing on the outcome. Owen has 12 months left on his contract and while he is believed to favour staying at Liverpool, a lot will depend on how Liverpool end the season. He also knows he will have to make a decision on his future at the start of the next campaign. And recent reports suggesting Owen is only prepared to sign a one-year extension should be ignored. No such approach has ever been made to Liverpool and if Owen does sign, it is likely to be until at least the end of the 2007 season, which is effectively a two-year extension to his current terms. And any decision will be based on footballing reasons, with Owen determined to win top honours. source: TEAMtalk ----------------------------------------- if Owen is not going to sign, we'll hv to sell him to the highest bidder. cant afford to let him go like macca. and owen looked so disinterested in playing nowadays. in fact, i notice this eversince he came down for the asian tour. whenever owen is captured on tv, he shows tt kind of sulky look. maybe he is tired but tt really sux. frankly speaking, i think tt 'one-yr extension' deal sounds alrite to me. at least it gives us time to either improve and get into CL or find a good bidder. ynwa, webmaster
