Liverpool 3 Jerz Howler 1

i seriously wonder if we should change a new GK or change the goalkeeping coach. after his 2 blunders against the scums (i bet those were the only goals forlorn ever scored in the premier league) and the blunder against the blusenose, he... has did it again. When we are about to take a 3-0 lead going into the 2nd round, Dudek presented Franca with the easiest of chance when he fumbled a high ball. In the end, Bayern Lev pulled one back, cutting the lead to 3-1 and they'll just need a 2-0 victory at home to send us crashing out of CL.

Dun get me wrong. i think Dudek is a good keeper... a good shot stopper and has very quick reflexes BUT his incapability to cope with high balls is worrying me. If we want to be serious title contenders, we cant afford to allow a gk to leak goals like that. And its always heart wrenching to see the whole team being let down by the goalkeeper. No doubt you win/lose as a team, its stupid to lose under such circumstances. Definitely a joke!

Birmingham 2 Liverpool 0

The start of a roller coaster ride and we fumbled a great chance to catch up with the bluenose. 2 goals within 8 mins in the first half - a penalty by Pandiani and a terrific strike by Julian Gray, was enough to sink us. Just when i thought we could narrow the gap and march closer to that 4th CL spot, we self destructed at St. Andrews. Wat a terrible display. And it really makes me wonder if Gerrard will still stay on come summer.

Our defence was poor (as usual). Hyypia was the main culprit. Slow and inept in marking erhmm... Emile Heskey of all people. Ended up giving away a penalty... the straw that broke the camel's back. And 8 minutes later, Finnan presented Julian Gray with the easiest of chance when he failed to mark him at the far end. A pinpoint cross by Jermaine Pennant was met by a charging Gray and he volleyed the ball into the net; too fast for Dudek to react.

Our midfield was one-directional. All they could do was to pass the ball into the central to Gerrard, gerrard and still gerrard. Ello...wat are the flanks for??? There was a total lack of creativity and we definately missed Alonso badly. And why the hell didnt we go for Jermaine Pennant?! He's the type of winger we sorely needed. Look at the tops teams, all of them have good wingers that can dribble the ball down the flanks and pump crosses in. Arsenal have Pires and Ljundberg, Scums have Ronaldo and Giggs, Chelski have Robben and Duff. Who do we have??? Antonio Nunez... who totally cant control the ball let alone pump in crosses for god sake! And if Gerrard wants to leave, then sell him and get the money to strengthen up the midfield then. Players like Smicer, Biscan etc are seriously NOT GOOD ENUF.

As for the forwards, wat else can i say? With such terrible services from midfield, wat more can you expect from them? I rest my case.

"50M FOR GERRARD DOESN'T INTEREST US"

Its been quite a while since i last blog (was real busy with work) and many things have happened during the past few wks...

first of all, we bid farewell to Henchoz who have joined Celtic on a permanent basis. Thanks Step for all that you have done for the club and best of luck for your future undertakings. Then, we welcome back Le Tallac from St Etienne and also Smicer (from injury). and we did not manage to sign the incredible sulk from man city. wat a pity! was looking forward to see him back in Anfield.

secondly, our 1-2 victory against Charlton saw Morientes scored his first PL goal for Liverpool. and wat a beauty it was. a deserving victory but the more worrying thing is that we created chance after chance but lack the lethal finishing.

after a hectic midweek, we head on to play Fulham. I didn't catch the match all thanks to my stupid cable tv decoder... which has decided to break down at such a crucial timing. DAMN!!! caught the highlights the nx day (thank god the decoder was replaced just in time) and wat a superb header by morientes. He's just the striker we've been looking for. someone who can head in crosses coming in from the flanks. something that owen and erhmm...heskey cant do. its really exciting to see the team gel together and frankly speaking, i seriously think that we can challange for the title in maybe 1 or 2 yrs time.

lastly, i would like to talk about Rick Parry's stand on Stevie G. If Stevie really wants to go to Real, then be it. I simply hate it when a player held it's club to ransom. NO PLAYER IS BIGGER THAN THE CLUB. and i really dun wish to see the owen saga re-enacting. And i hope rick parry with reconsider his stand... either he sign or he go. things are just as simple as that.
