Tottenham 1 Liverpool 1

match:

shaky start from liverpool fc. liverpool played well for the first 30min then went into standby mode after that, allowing spurs to control the match. again our captain marvel gerrard orchestrated most of the attacks. he was all over the field. the first goal of the match came from our new 14million pound signing cisse. liverpool was awarded a corner and finnan did well to cross into the box. the loose ball was not well cleared and finnan got his 2nd attempt to cross the ball. this time round, hyppia headed the ball onto the path of cisse and he cooling tuck the ball into the right hand corner of the net. liverpool went into sleep after that, allowing spurs to come in waves.... but our defence stood solid. the match ended 0-1 in the first half.

2nd half, RB took cisse out in the 50th min and replaced him with pongolle. pongolle was hot-headed and got into a heated argument with one of the spurs player. no sooner, he did a poor tackle and was shown the yellow card. and for the remaining of the match, pongolle failed to make and impact and most of the ref's decisions went against him. Spurs took control of the 2nd half. they made full use of the flanks and defoe + kanoute were constant threat. on the 70th min, defoe scored the equaliser. he took the defense by himself, managed to find a space between hyppia and carragher and unlashed a fierce left-foot shot. the ball squeezed passed dudek and the goalpost and the score became 1-1. RB then took out baros shifting kewell up to partner pongolle. liverpoool pushed for a goal but to no avail. RB made his third and final substitution in the 83rd min, replacing the ineffective hamann with biscan. but both defense stood strong and the match ended 1-1. Players: Josemi seems like a great signing. he won most of the tackles and covered his area well. Hyypia is back to his best again, winning all the tackles and headers. riise was a pale shadow of himself. carragher played well as a CB and his partnership with hyppia looks solid. hamann was virtually non existence. kewell did well down the flanks. finnan was ok but his crossed still needs to be improved.gerrard was everwhere as usual. cisse was fast but still lack communication with the rest of the players. he need better services to make an impact. baros was awful. cant believe he was actually the golden boot winner in euro2004. he loses his ball very often and his control was bad. there is something missing in this strikeforce partnership and i believe its telepathy.

first game of the season and the players still lack fitness. the team doesnt seem to gel that well as yet and we definitely need to get another attacking mf and a proven striker to replace owen. sinama pongolle imho is still too raw for the game.

going once... going twice... gone. Michael Owen sold for ₤8million + Antonio Nunez. no disrepect but who the hell is nunez?! seen real madrid play day in day out but i dun recall them fielding anyone by the name of nunez (pardon my ignorance). my oh my, owen's value depreciate so... fast. a wk ago, he is worth ₤10million + eto/morientes. a wk later, he is only worth ₤8million + nunez?!?!?! y must owen go real? the management should have offered him to other big clubs and i'm sure someone will offer a better price! real must be laughing at a corner at how foolish we are, getting peanuts for a world class player. even i myself feel like laughing.

and after saving so much money wat does real do? they go for alonso whom we have been targetting for ages. smart ass huh? fuck you real madrid!

caught the charity shield match on tv last night. sad to say both arsenal and manure did not field their best team and so it was not easy to gauge the strenght of the teams. one thing that took me by surprise was manure's defense. their defense was slow, nervous and shaky and jose antonio reyes tore them apart. interesting... well, perhaps rio ferdinand and henize will beef up the defense but we shall wait and see.

on the other hand, arsenal's turbo is still going strong. but somehow they lack the flow in passing. and it was obvious veira's absent has made its midfield weaker and less able to hold possesions. their young players - fabergas, pennant, reyes, v.persie look good and they adapt v well into the team. imho, in yrs to come arsenal will grow stronger whilst manure, like wat kewell has mentioned, will be a team in decline lol
